We have the privilege of hosting two fantastic side by side Winchesters from the 1940’s right now: a Model 24, and a Model 21. This is the prize: A 1948 Model 21 Skeet in 12 gauge. Jack O’Conner held the model 21 as “the best of all American shotguns,” pointing to the beavertail forearm, the single selective trigger, selective ejectors, and the “clean” breech face (without rib extensions to interfere with loading).
This Model 21 was assembled as a Skeet gun in 1948, with 26″ barrels. It has the original finish, including some light wear underneath and on the left of the tight action. The exquisite wood (which came upgraded on Skeet models) includes an aftermarket buttpad, which is tastefully integrated into the stock. Model 21’s are often sold in excess of $10,000… this one needs to move quickly, and we will entertain offers up to $8,400.
